On Monday, an attorney for the Trump campaign issued a call for violence against Chris Krebs, the now-former cybersecurity official who was fired from his post by Donald Trump after telling the truth and rejected the President’s wild-eyed claims of widespread voter fraud. Trump’s attorneys have so far proved to be as unhinged as the President is. Joe diGenova on “The Howie Carr Show,” outlined several baseless accusations regarding the election, including that “mail-in balloting is inherently corrupt,” and called Kreb a “class A moron.”
“Anybody who thinks that this election went well, like that idiot Krebs who used to be the head of cybersecurity [for Trump]. That guy is a class A moron. He should be drawn and quartered. Taken out at dawn and shot,” diGenova said.
According to CNN, a source familiar with Trump’s election challenges said that diGenova is believed to be still helping the president’s attorney, Rudy Giuliani, in challenging the presidential election results.
In November, Trump fired Krebs after his former agency, the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), issued a statement saying that the 2020 election was “the most secure in American history.”

“There is no evidence that any voting system deleted or lost votes, changed votes, or was in any way compromised,” the statement added.
Apparently, that didn’t go down well with the outgoing president, who has been using baseless claims of a “rigged election” to secure donations from his base. Trump, of course, fired Krebs on Twitter rather than face his former official.

This is not just a random Parler troll trying to get attention. This is an attorney speaking on behalf of the President of the United States’ re-election campaign. And while it may read like a macabre joke, the direct nature of diGenova’s comments make it impossible to interpret as anything other than a real wish/threat against a public servant for offering truthful testimony.

I’m pretty sure that making mafia-style threats isn’t legal, but with this president, law and order was never a thing. It was a talking point and pure projection. None of this is normal, of course, but if you wonder how low this president can go, he’ll amaze you each time. There is no bottom with Trump. Krebs, a lifelong Republican, put country over party, and that was unacceptable to the president.
