Look, we know damn good and well that rich, white, Republican men do not want women in this country to have much of any form of autonomy over our own bodies.
However, it appears that the recent opinion draft that was recently leaked and published by Politico, suggesting that the United States Supreme Court could overturn Roe V. Wade — a landmark decision made in 1973, protecting a woman’s right to choose to have an abortion without undue government interference or restrictions — has officially emboldened these men to the point that they genuinely have no shame.
We have now reached a new low in this nation, at which wealthy, white, old, Republican congressmen are openly admitting that they want women and child-bearing humans in this country to have the amount of bodily autonomy that is on a level with an animal that cannot even speak.
Montana Republican Senator Steve Daines took to the Senate floor today where he expressed his apparent confusion at the outrage that’s been expressed over the dystopian, Handmaid’s Tale hellscape that child-bearing human beings are currently facing in this nation. It seems he just doesn’t understand why people, human beings who are supposed to have a right to bodily autonomy, are so damn upset with the recent turn of events.

The GOP lawmaker event went so far as to try to pull a “gotcha” moment out of his hind end when he proudly declared that “the Left” cares more about protecting sea turtle eggs than it does zygotes that may turn into a fetus, that may turn into a human being.
“If you were to take or destroy the eggs of a sea turtle—now I said the eggs, not the hatchlings that’s also a penalty but the eggs—the criminal penalties are severe: up to a $100,000 fine and a year in prison. Now why?” Daines proclaimed from the Senate floor today. “Why do we have laws in place that protect the eggs of a sea turtle or the eggs of eagles? Because, when you destroy an egg, you’re killing a preborn baby sea turtle or preborn baby eagle. Yet when it comes to a preborn human baby, rather than a sea turtle, that baby will be stripped of all protections in all 50 states, under the Democrats’ bill that we’ll be voting on tomorrow. Is that what the America the left wants?”
Daines was taking aim at the Women’s Health Protection Act, a bill that would serve to codify Roe V. Wade into federal law in the US. The bill recently failed to pass in the Senate.

This man wants to turn human beings into forced incubators for their rapist’s children, with no more rights than an animal. That is where we are in this country.
