As we’re all painfully aware now, Donald Trump made the bold and absolutely stupid decision yesterday to launch an airstrike near the Baghdad airport that resulted in the death of Iranian Quds Force commander Qasem Soleimani in addition to other senior Iranian-linked figures.

We also knew from the moment the airstrike was announced, and Trump’s Pentagon took credit for the attack and confirmed that it took place at the direction of POTUS himself with little to no consultation among members of Congress, that this travesty was nothing more than a political stunt — a scheme that Donald thought would strengthen his chances for reelection this year after his plan to extort Ukraine into locking the next four years in for him went recently went swirling down the drain.

We honestly could have guessed as much without any additional confirmation. But we got some anyway yesterday evening when an uncovered report began making the rounds on social media once again, proving that during his time as a presidential candidate, Donald Trump didn’t even have a damn clue who or what Qasem Soleimani and the Quds Force even was.

Now, thanks to a new report out today, we know that Donald has been mulling over this ridiculous and deadly assassination for months now.

Per a report from McClatchy:

Last summer, as Iranian forces shot down an American drone, taunted oil tankers in the Gulf and threatened U.S. personnel in Iraq, President Donald Trump was presented with a series of options to respond. It was at this time that administration officials first began considering killing Iran’s top general, Qassem Soleimani, according to three sources familiar with the deliberations.”

“One defense official said that Soleimani, who led the Quds Force of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, was a person of interest for months, as it became clearer he was behind the escalating attacks against U.S. personnel and facilities,” the report continued. “One diplomat with a U.S. ally in the region said that Soleimani was discussed as a U.S. target since the summer.”

The source interviewed by McClatchy “frequently consults” with the National Security Council.

“Soleimani has been under consideration as a target for many years – the question is when it reached the president’s desk,” the source stated. “My understanding is that it was made many months ago.”

The US currently has well over 5,000 troops stationed in Iraq in addition to the ready battalion of the 82nd Airborne Division being sent to the region.

“Former Presidents George W. Bush and Barack Obama considered strikes on Suleimani throughout their terms but refrained out of concern over blowback,” the report states. “Two U.S. diplomats said that embassy staff stationed in Beirut and Baghdad are especially fearful over the consequences of Suleimani’s killing, while other U.S. embassies around the Gulf region remain on alert.”

Trump has essentially just thrown us to the wolves when he has no clue how to even raise a dog.
