According To New Report, More Americans Disapprove Of Trump Now Than Any Other Time In His Presidency

He is the most unpopular president in history.

Donald Trump’s approval rating has been plummeting for some time now, but a new poll shows the president at his highest disapproval rating ever during his time in office. And Trump has only five months left before voters cast their ballots to turn that around. A newly released NPR/PBS NewsHour/Marist poll shows Trump has a forty percent job approval in the survey. Still, the percentage of respondents who disapprove of the job he’s doing in the White House reached its highest level yet this month, at a whopping fifty-eight percent.

To put this in perspective, when former president Richard Nixon left office amid the Watergate scandal, his approval rating was at 49.1 percent.

The pollster notes the three factors in the latest poll that are fueling the “intensity of American’s disapproval of Trump, and that includes “a wounded economy, heightened racial tensions over police violence, and a resurgent COVID-19 pandemic.”

Among Black Americans, Trump garnered only a five percent approval rating. Ninety-three percent disapprove of this president, even though Trump falsely claims he’s done more for African-Americans than any other commander in chief.

White voters aren’t pleased with Trump’s job performance either. Forty-eight percent said they approve of his job performance, while fifty-one percent disapprove, according to the poll. But those numbers for white Americans should be better during a time of racial strife.

The poll further notes:

Trump is polling 5 points ahead of Biden with people who don’t have a college degree, while Biden is 26 points ahead of the president among college graduates. Biden is also 23 points ahead of Trump among women, and polling better among people of every generation except Baby Boomers.

The poll also showed presumptive Democratic nominee Joe Biden leading the president fifty-two percent to Forty-four percent. That’s not typical for a sitting first-term president to be spiraling down so quickly just months before the election. Trump has crashed the economy as he urged states to reopen, only for those same states to become inundated with COVID-19 cases.

Trump also threatened violence against protesters, and he did, in fact, permit the tear-gassing and flash-banging of demonstrators so that he could enjoy a photo-op with a Bible in his hand. Trump knows he’s going to lose — the question is, how much more damage can he do on his way out?
