Activists from Spaces in Action and Shut Down D.C. left body bags outside the homes of Republicans Senate Majority leader Mitch McConnell and South Carolina Senator Lindsey Graham Tuesday in protest of Congress’ failure to pass a second stimulus deal that is direly needed right now as food banks are being hammered, unemployment is still through the roof. A record number of Americans are contracting and dying from COVID-19, so the body bags’ display seems fitting.
On Twitter, McConnell blamed Democrats for failing to pass a stimulus relief bill, even though Democrats have been trying to get relief to Americans for months now. McConnell rejected a bipartisan $900 billion stimulus plan. That plan, however, does not include stimulus checks for Americans in need.
Spaces in Action tweeted out a video of the groups placing the displays on Twitter, noting the estimated death toll of Americans who have died from the coronavirus since March. In a separate tweet, Spaces in Action shared a video of activists carrying body bags and signs that were left outside the senators’ homes — right on their doorsteps.
Over 270,000 are dead and @senatemajldr Mitch McConnell is still blocking a vote on COVID relief.
Blood is on his hands, and this morning, we joined @ShutDown_DC to bring the bodies to his doorstep. pic.twitter.com/NkbURM4upZ

And, remarkably, our elected officials opted to leave town for time away while Americans are still sheltered at home. Over two hundred and seventy-one Americans have died from the coronavirus, and we’re getting eerily close to fourteen million people that have contracted the disease in the U.S.
I think the group of activists should leave a display of body bags outside of Mar-a-Lago, too, since the president has failed to lead us through this national crisis. Thankfully, though, President-elect Joe Biden has a plan, and he’ll be sworn into office in forty-nine days.
I’ll leave you with this:
My message to everyone struggling right now is this: Help is on the way.
