What a clusterfuck.

One of Iranian President Hassan Rouhani’s senior advisors on Wednesday warned Donald Trump on Twitter over his Secretary of State. We can understand Iran’s skepticism of Mike Pompeo since he’s a lying gasbag who can’t seem to keep his story straight following the Trump administration’s assassination of Qassem Soleimani. And today, Trump himself inundated his presser with lies to attack former President Barack Obama to justify why American citizens feel like they are at the brink of war. Trump pulled us out of the nuclear deal with Iran, not Obama.

Previously, Hesameddin Ashena put the sole blame for the conflict on Trump’s bone-spurred feet, but now he’s sharing that responsibility with Pompeo, too. Ashena took to Twitter to warn Trump about the prospect of war between Iran and the US. and called Pompeo a “clown,” adding, “Don’t be the worst dealmaker in history!”

The more you learn about Pompeo’s role in this escalating conflict, the worse it gets. The New York Times reported that Pompeo was “the loudest voice in the administration pushing President Trump to kill Iran’s most important general.” So this wasn’t even Trump’s idea. We imagine Pompeo flattering Donald so that the “president” would provoke a war. And just like Trump, Pompeo is now trying to clean up the damage he created.

While Pompeo and Trump have defended the lethal drone strike on Gen. Qassem Soleimani, Iran’s top military commander, they have failed to explain how he was an immediate threat, as they claimed. The stories keep shifting, making this administration even less credible than it was before.

Then there are the calls from Trump to destroy Iran’s cultural sites. And Pompeo, being the lapdog that he is, appeared on Sunday Morning Futures, a Fox News program. Host Maria Bartiromo asked Pompeo about complaints that Trump was “targeting cultural sites” in Iran. Pompeo insisted that wasn’t true. “President Trump didn’t say he’d go after a cultural site,” he told Bartiromo. “Read what he said very closely.”

Trump did, in fact, make mention of targetting Iran’s cultural sites about three times. As much as I hate agreeing with anyone from Iran’s regime, they are correct in describing Pompeo as a clown, although I would have used a harsher word.
