After Barr Dropped The Charges Against Flynn, Trump Tells Fox News “I’m Chief Law Enforcement Officer”

Trump lied to Fox News and then gave himself more power.

President Donald Trump gloated about Attorney General Bill Barr doing his bidding by dropping the federal case against disgraced former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn on Fox & Friends, where he also lied about who appointed FBI Director Christopher Wray and declared himself the chief law enforcement officer of the United States.

Barr directed the DOJ to abruptly drop the charges against Flynn even though Flynn has already entered a guilty plea for lying to the FBI twice and being an unregistered foreign agent.

During a phone call to Fox & Friends the next day, Trump bragged about what Barr had done before sycophantic host Brian Kilmeade asked Trump why FBI Director Christopher Wray didn’t release a bunch of documents pertaining to the Flynn investigation.

In response, Trump pretended that he was not the one who appointed Wray, but that Wray was appointed by former Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein and recommended by former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie.

Of course, Trump appointed Wray as FBI Director in 2017, even making an announcement of his intention to appoint Wray in June of that year.

“I am proud to announce Christopher as my choice as the Director of the FBI,” Trump said in a statement released by the White House.

Trump then made an outrageous claim that he’s the “chief law enforcement officer” in the nation and not Barr. As Attorney General, Barr is supposed to be a largely independent chief law enforcement officer. But apparently Trump has taken over so much of the Justice Department that he now sees himself as being the de facto AG.

Here’s the video via Twitter:

Once again, Trump is grabbing authority that he should not have, basically giving himself the power to decide who gets prosecuted and who doesn’t, which means more witch hunts against his critics and political rivals are likely on the horizon.
