After Officially Declining To Participate In Impeachment Hearings, Trump Takes To Twitter, Appears To Complain He Wasn’t Allowed Enough Lawyers

He's upset that he's getting what he wanted.

White House Counsel Pat Cipollone declined House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerry Nadler’s offer for Donald Trump or his lawyers to participate in Wednesday’s first impeachment hearing. Even so, the former reality show star appeared to object (during his morning panic-tweets) to not having an attorney present. After tweeting at 2:30 in the morning, Trump went back to his Twitter account three hours later to fire off a series of tweets.

Full disclosure: My Turnip to English translator isn’t working so understanding this “president’s” tweets presents a problem for me.

“The Do Nothing Democrats get 3 Constitutional lawyers for their Impeachment hoax (they will need them!), the Republicans get one,” Trump tweeted. “Oh, that sounds fair!”

First, the “Do Nothing Democrats” have passed hundreds of bills, but the Republican-led Senate won’t take them up for a vote. Also, Cipollone’s statement added that “an invitation to an academic discussion with law professors does not begin to provide the president with any semblance of a fair process.”

So, it appears that Team Trump objects to experts in the Constitution being present, claiming that it won’t be fair to this “president.”  The panel of constitutional scholars and law professors that are informed about the impeachment process will assess the allegations against Trump to determine whether or not they constitute “high crimes and misdemeanors.”

It’s typical of Trump to complain after getting what he wants. Trump tweeted this just last month:

And this:

Trump does have an attorney who seems to be available. Rudy Giuliani, Trump’s personal attorney, is up to his neck in the “president’s” Ukraine scandal and we’re sure Democrats on the House Intelligence Committee would love for his embattled lawyer to stroll into the hearing. However, Jailiani might be a bit worn out after being repeatedly thrown under the bus.
