The slogan among Conservatives in this country when it comes to the police force and that “thin blue line” always boils down to, “Don’t let a few bad apples spoil the whole bunch.”
But here’s the thing, if I were presented with a bushel of 100 apples and was told that 30 of them were poisonous and likely to kill me, I’m throwing the whole damn basket out, just like every normal human being with the level of common sense God gave a goose would do.
Not to mention, a whole lot more of the bushel is rotten than what the Right is ever willing to admit.
Allow me to present exhibit A.
Americans are ignited in a collective fury today as a video clip has gone viral on social media, showing police officers in Syracuse, New York detaining an alleged 8-year-old Black child with what looked to be excessive force bordering on violence, as he sobbed and cried and screamed and looked absolutely terrified, all because the child stood accused of stealing a bag of Doritos chips.

You read that right. This is not a joke. I am not exaggerating. Police officers brutally put their hands on an 8-year-old little boy who was scared out of his wits over a bag of f*cking chips.
Video footage of the altercation between several grown adult police officers and one grade school child was first shared on Facebook by the man who recorded the incident, Kenneth Jackson, where it garnered around 2,500 shares.
However, once the clip made its way to Twitter, it spread like wildfire, raking in millions of views almost instantaneously, and even being picked up and retweeted by Ben Crump, a famous attorney who’s known nationwide for representing people of color who have been mistreated, harassed, or assaulted by police in the US.

Rather than talking to him or handling this incident in a different way, officers chose to escalate this incident and detain an obviously terrified young boy! How traumatizing is this?!” Crump captioned the harrowing clip:

In the video Jackson, who recorded the altercation, can be heard confronting the police officers, furiously demanding to know why they’re doing this to the child as the kid screams and cries in apparent fear.
“What are y’all doing?!” Jackson demands to know. One of the officers shoots back, “Guess. Take a guess what I’m doing.”
Another individual who witnessed the altercation but wasn’t seen on video can also be heard commenting on what the police officers are doing.
“He’s stealing stuff,” one of the officers fume as Jackson screams back, “Nah, man. What, he stole a bag of chips so you treat him like an old cold-blooded f*cking killer?”
In the clip, one officer can be seen firmly holding the child’s arms behind his back and shoving him into the police SUV as Jackson pleads with the police to let him pay for the chips the child allegedly stole, but to no avail.
Reports indicate that the officers didn’t charge or arrest the child, but instead took him home and spoke to the kid’s father, who originally said his interaction with the officers was friendly. However, once the child’s father caught wind of the clip that was reposted by Crump, he quickly became rightfully outraged over the way his child was treated by the police over a bag of chips.
The father told the local paper that he intends to file a complaint against the officers.

I’ve seen white people stealing hundreds in groceries, get caught outside the store, who only got no trespassing citations, which means if they come back they’ll be arrested, and they were simply let go because what they were stealing didn’t exceed a certain dollar amount!
