According to CBS News, federal investigators are looking into a Bahamas trip Florida Rep. Matt Gaetz allegedly took in late 2018 or early 2019 as part of an inquiry into whether he violated sex trafficking laws. Gaetz was on that trip with Jason Pirozzolo, a marijuana entrepreneur and hand surgeon, who allegedly paid for the travel expenses, accommodations, and female escorts. So now, Pirozzolo is front and center embedded in Gaetz’s scandal.
A video resurfaced, showing then-President Donald Trump and first lady Melania Trump meeting Pirozzolo after the two landed in Orlando, Florida, in June 2019. Trump was in town for a rally. Now, we’re not saying that Trump is into sex trafficking, but he does have a knack for being seen with some dubious characters. Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis was there to greet Trump, too, with his wife, Casey.

Things took a turn for Gaetz after it was revealed that his friend, Joel Greenberg, will likely change his plea after facing four grand jury indictments alleging everything from sex trafficking to wire fraud, according to the New York Times. He’s flipping on Gaetz like a pancake on a hot griddle.
“I am sure Matt Gaetz is not feeling very comfortable today,” Greenberg’s attorney Fritz Scheller told reporters after the news broke, according to The Orlando Sentinel. “He’s uniquely situated,” Scheller added of his client. And this is really bad news for Gaetz. Trump hasn’t given strong support for Gaetz, a staunch loyalist for the former president. I’d like to know DeSantis’s ties to Pirozzolo, though. It’s as if the entire swamp was on the tarmac that day.
