Donald Trump announced on Twitter that he is about to do a news conference (which is going on now) “on the ChinaVirus” and what the president called, “the just announced very good economic numbers, and the improving economy.” Trump is trying to put a positive spin on the apocalyptic economy because the United States added 1.8 million jobs in July. However, the economy is still down nearly 13 million jobs during the coronavirus pandemic. These aren’t jobs that the Trump administration created. Instead, this is about people returning to their jobs.
The optics aren’t good today as Trump spent time at his Bedminster golf club in New Jersey, and for the presser, the president allowed wealthy club members to attend, with many of them refusing to wear protective face masks — and they aren’t practicing social distancing.
This just looks bad. Sure, dude, talk about the Americans that are suffering, jobless, dying, ill, shuttered at home, while you hang out with your rich friends.
A Secret Service agent subsequently went around offering these people masks. But it seems as though the President’s golf club is not enforcing New Jersey’s mask mandate. https://t.co/3GSibrdaUv

Twitter users were not amused.
Are New Jersey state troopers outside the golf club waiting to arrest anyone who isn’t following State mandates?

Can THIS be the story instead of whatever he skews from his mouth. The us vs them. The rules for the rich vs the poor. Those being responsible staying home vs those just living it up

This violates NJ rules. Shut it down.

What is wrong with these people??
— Gillian (@melott921) August 7, 2020
Rules only apply to the little people, apparently. People like you and me, but not for the president, his administration, or his wealthy buddies. What an absolute disgrace that the United States is left without a president during several national crises. They’re playing by two sets of rules here, and the average American is going to be thrown a crumb now and then — maybe.
