As Second US Coronavirus Death Is Reported, Trump Claims He “Saved Many Lives”

Grandpa Ranty needs to take a nap.

The U.S. is woefully unprepared for the coronavirus that has spread worldwide as another individual in Washington state has become the second person in the country to die from the disease COVID-19. Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis’ office is declaring “a public health emergency in the State of Florida” after two people were tested “presumptively positive” for coronavirus.

Meanwhile, the coronavirus test kits may have been contaminated. And a government whistleblower has stepped forward to warn people that the Department of Health and Human Services sent workers to help evacuees from Wuhan, China — the epicenter of the coronavirus — without giving them proper protective gear or training.

Mr. Presidementia would like you to believe that he’s handled the outbreak well even though the Trump administration fired the government’s entire pandemic response chain of command in 2018. Trump killed the pandemic response system because it was established during the Obama administration. In mid-February, Trump somehow claimed that the deadly coronavirus would “miraculously” disappear by April. The U.S. government has confirmed 87 coronavirus cases so far and other countries are far outpacing us in testing their citizens.

Still, Trump took to Twitter to whine about his critics, and claim that he has saved lives:

White House economic adviser Larry Kudlow claimed last week that the administration had “contained” the outbreak, but obviously — and unsurprisingly — that’s just not true.

We’re going to need more than 75,000 test kits available in this country.

“We now have 75,000 tests available out there in the United States, and over the next week that will expand radically,” said Alex Azar, Secretary of Health and Human Services, on ABC’s This Week on Sunday.

Trump is more concerned with being criticized than he is with the well-being of the people he’s supposed to represent, and it seems obvious why.

Trump’s “booming economy” isn’t really booming and that will hurt his chances of being reelected. That’s all President Ranty cares about.
