As US Death Toll Tops 5,000 Trump Complains Some States Are Asking For Too Much

More than 210,000 people in the United States have been infected from the massive COVID-19 outbreak, and over 5,000 have died. The Labor Department reports a staggering number of new people claiming unemployment benefits that total 6.648 million filings last week — doubling the record set a week earlier.

So, naturally, Donald Trump took to Twitter to complain about “Cryin’ Chuck Schumer.” Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer sent out a couple of tweets this morning, and appeared on Morning Joe, a show Trump likes to hate-watch.

“President Trump needs to harness industry to quickly produce more medical supplies and equipment under the Defense Production Act NOW,” Schumer tweeted. “He needs to appoint a czar like a military or logistics expert to lead the effort to make and get the supplies where they’re needed.”

Schumer continued:

That or Schumer’s appearance on Morning Joe must have sent Trump into a Twitter hissy-fit.

Our meathead president is failing to calm a panicked nation. The former reality show star sends out divisive tweets while Americans are dying, and millions are finding themselves suddenly unemployed while self-isolating as states are being shut down. Trump is shifting the blame on states’ governors for his own incompetence. The president failed to act when the warnings came in months ago simply because he thinks he knows more than the experts. Trump’s logic appears to be that if people are dying in a state he doesn’t like, well, too bad.

Quit crying, Mr. Trump, and get to work.
