Aww, but at least he tried.

Fox News correspondent Peter Doocy always seems to want White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki’s attention, and it doesn’t usually work out in his favor. Of course, it’s his job to ask questions, but Doocy appears to want to play the role of Jim Acosta to the previous administration’s press secretaries. On Thursday, Doocy did it again, and again, it didn’t go down well for the Fox News correspondent.

“House Republicans are claiming that they have ‘significant circumstantial evidence’ that COVID-19 originated in a lab,” Doocy told Psaki. “Has the White House seen any circumstantial evidence that it did not originate in a lab?”

Psaki, though, didn’t take the bait and stuck to the facts.

“Well, I think first I would caution you against disproving a negative there, which is never the responsible approach in our view when it comes to getting to the bottom of the root causes of a pandemic that has killed hundreds of thousands of people in the United States.”

She wasn’t done with her answer.

“I will say that our view continues to be there needs to be an independent, transparent investigation, and that needs to happen with the cooperation and data provided from the Chinese government,” she added. “We don’t have enough information at this point to make an assessment.”

Watch:

Honestly, how will we find out where the coronavirus originated without the cooperation of the Chinese government? According to Forbes, Dr. Robert Redfield, former director of the CDC in the Trump administration, recently declared without evidence that he thought the virus mostly likely escaped from a laboratory in Wuhan. Now, that’s possible, but it hasn’t been determined yet. Throwing that out there without evidence isn’t helping the matter, and the Chine government isn’t exactly transparent. And Doocy saying that House Republicans believe this doesn’t add any credibility to the claim since they are also confused as to who won the 2020 November election.
