President Joe Biden effectively showed his predecessor, the Republican party, the nation, and the world how a real president handles an individual or group that doesn’t agree with him when an obnoxious heckler with a megaphone rudely shouted out “F*ck Joe Biden!” during the president’s “The Soul of the Union” speech today, where Biden publicly addressed the dangerous ongoing threats posed to this country by scandal-ridden ex-President and his MAGA Republicans.
The president was speaking to members of the audience at Independence Hall in Philadelphia when the event was reprehensibly interrupted by nasty chants from people in the crowd that could be heard ringing through the video news feed coverage of the event. While the interruption did seem to throw Joe Biden temporarily off of his train of thought, the president did not attack the hecklers, nor did he even simply ignore their rude and ill-timed complaints. Instead, President Biden directly addressed the heckling and defended their right to do so.
“Look, our democracy isn’t perfect,” the president said in response to the protesters during his speech. “It always has been. Notwithstanding those folks you hear on the other side there. They’re entitled to be outrageous. This is a democracy.”
Biden stood before a heavily dramatic red background, flanked by two Maries, with the American flag behind him this afternoon, as he fumed that Donald Trump’s hold and influence over the US Republican party is a threat to the “very soul of this country.”

Numerous Right-wing talking heads, including Ben Shapiro and Fox’s Tucker Carlson, have attacked the aesthetic aspects of the president’s speech, with Shapiro dubbing it “the worst piece of presidential optics” he’s ever seen, while Tucker likened the setting to Adolf Hilter, calling it a “blood-red Nazi background.”
Biden’s predecessor, one-term, twice-impeached former guy Donald Trump, wasted absolutely no time in pitching a hissy fit about the president’s speech, writing in one Truth Social post, “If you look at the words and meaning of the awkward and angry Biden speech tonight, he threatened America, including with the possible use of military force. He must be insane, or suffering from late stage dementia!”
In a follow-up post, Trump fumed, “Someone should explain to Joe Biden, slowly but passionately, that MAGA means, as powerfully as mere words can get, MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN! … If he doesn’t want to Make America Great Again, which through words, action, and thought, he doesn’t, then he certainly should not be representing the United States of America!”
But the president truly couldn’t care less, closing his speech, “Democracy cannot survive on one side believes there are only two outcomes to an election: Either they win or they were cheated. And that’s where the MAGA Republicans are today.”
