Earlier today, former President Donald Trump released an utterly bonkers statement, making us wonder if the former guy thinks he is still the president. The twice-impeached one-term president claimed that he has an “Envoy Ambassador” who traveled to the Kosovo-Serbia border to “highlight” an “important agreement” that his “administration brokered.”
The so-called Ambassador is Richard Grenell, the former president’s ambassador to Germany, who no longer has a job with the government. One month before losing the election to Joe Biden, Trump named Grenell as a special envoy for peace negotiations between Serbia and Kosovo. So, it appears that Trump and Grenell are violating the Logan Act.
Biden’s White House responded to the crazy-time statement saying, “Outside of his very active imagination, Donald Trump is no longer President and doesn’t have any ‘envoy ambassadors’ representing the United States.”
NEW: “Outside of his very active imagination, Donald Trump is no longer President and doesn’t have any ‘envoy ambassadors’ representing the United States,” a White House official tells me in response to this: https://t.co/Rz8aBl4p7X

Grenell should let the former guy know this.
Grenell said the same thing. https://t.co/AFePO9OAzp

Precisely the way to treat trump’s delusions of grandeur. https://t.co/IBBYGrOfH0

Liz’s tweets of the ex’s “statements” are the ex’s way of getting around his twitter ban. Liz needs to be banned.

It gets weirder.
Trump dispatched his “special envoy” Rick Grenell to Serbia and Kosovo, where he checked in with Newsmax today to report his findings after visiting the border. (No, this isn’t a tweet from 2018). pic.twitter.com/r43Ys7d8uF

The Logan Act is a federal law that criminalizes negotiations by unauthorized American citizens with foreign governments. Not that laws mean anything to Donald Trump. He didn’t have an administration. Trump had a crime family. The former president is like the clingy guy in the 5th grade that just won’t leave you alone.
