Biden White House Responded To Trump’s Executive Privilege Lawsuit And The Former President Isn’t Going To Like It One Single Bit

Former President Donald Trump is suing the Jan. 6 select committee and the National Archives to block the release of his White House’s records related to the deadly Jan. 6 Capitol attack. According to Politico, the twice-impeached one-term president’s lawyers asked a federal judge to invalidate the entire request for records from the select committee, to block the Archives from turning over any materials to Congress in response to the request, and to specifically block the Archives from turning over any documents that Trump says are covered by executive privilege.

However, President Joe Biden has made it clear that he won’t invoke executive privilege for the former president. It’s up to the current president and not the former one. Trump lashed in a statement over Biden’s decision not to be a roadblock in the investigation, and now, he’s probably going to throw another fit after the White House addressed the former president’s lawsuit.

“Former President Trump abused the office of the presidency and attempted to subvert a peaceful transfer of power,” the statement reads. “The former president’s actions represented a unique – and existential – threat to our democracy that can’t be swept under the rug. As President Biden determined, the constitutional protections of executive privilege should not be used to shield information that reflects a clear and apparent effort to subvert the Constitution itself.”

The former president is still a danger to our democracy. He casts doubt in our elections, even though he was defeated in the popular and electoral vote over twelve months ago. We’re sure Trump will release another statement for his spokesperson Liz Harrington to tweet out since he has been banned on the behemoth social site for inciting the insurrection. Trump even told anyone that the committee subpoenaed to defy the subpoena, and that’s not the action of an innocent man. Trump knows he’s in trouble, and the presidency no longer protects him.
