Brett Kavanaugh Asserted Presidents Have The Right To Ignore Laws They Think Are Unconstitutional

Still just as disgusting as always, I see.

We’ve all known from the get-go that Brett Kavanaugh, who now serves as Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States is a piece of absolute shit of the highest order (which honestly isn’t even a bad enough description for him) who was elevated to his position of power by Donald Trump and the GOP despite several credible allegations of rape and sexual assault.

Under the Trump administration, that’s how things are done, folks. The president can freely rape and sexually assault anyone he pleases with absolutely no repercussions and still retains his ability to “run” this country. So why can’t everyone else?

But as it turns out, Kavanaugh has given us even more reason to be disgusted with the fact that he holds the key to a very large part of our government now.

Back in 2013, Brett declared that it was “traditional exercise” for a president to completely ignore a law if he and the White House have deemed it as “unconstitutional” — in defense of the “controversial practice of signing statements prevalent in George W. Bush’s White House,” per CNN.

“If the President has a constitutional objection to a statutory mandate or prohibition, the President may decline to follow the law unless and until a final Court order dictates otherwise,” Brett wrote in a 2013 opinion piece, after a similar argument in 2011.

Of course, this assertion from the Kavanaugh was certainly eyebrow-raising even before he was made a Supreme Court Justice — even spurring Democrats into demanding full access to documents from his time serving as White House staff secretary during the vetting process for his Supreme Court position.

But now that he has sleazed his way into one of the most powerful positions in the nation, Kavanaugh’s position on the subject becomes even more concerning.

“Understanding the nature of his involvement in those actions is absolutely critical to evaluating the type of justice he would be on the bench,” Senator Chuck Schumer said of Kavanaugh’s role in the Bush debacle around the time of his vetting process.

And, well, now we know exactly what time of Justice he will be on the bench. Precisely the type that Donald Trump wants, as he’s been doing this shit the entire time and he’s got himself the perfect little Justice that’s going to allow it.
