Chicago Police Superintendent Just Responded To Trump’s Criticism: “Today, The Same Officers He Criticized Spent All Day Protecting Him.”

Can Trump stop embarrassing us for just ONE day, please?

Donald Trump addressed the annual conference of the International Association of Chiefs in Chicago on Monday, and for some reason, he used that time to bash Chicago Police Superintendent Eddie Johnson. Of course, Johnson is African-American so Trump lashed out at him at the police convention, and he pretty much bashed the city of Chicago, too. Johnson wasn’t at the event so Trump said the police chief “should be here because maybe he should learn something.” The current occupant of the White House also suggested that Afghanistan was safer than Chicago.

“Here’s a man that could not bother to show up for a meeting of police chiefs … in his hometown and with the president of the United States,” Trump told the gathering of law enforcement officials. “And you know why? It’s because he’s not doing his job.”

Well, maybe Johnson wasn’t there because he was out doing his job, Mr. President, Sir.

Without one bit of irony, Trump said that an “attack on law enforcement is an attack on all Americans” while he bizarrely attacked a law enforcement official.

Watch:

Johnson responded to Trump’s divisive words, and he seemed to take the former reality show star’s attack gracefully while honoring the police officers that protected the “president” today as he visited the city he just bashed.

“Today, the same police officers the president criticized for their inability to protect this city spent all day protecting him,” Johnson said. He also said that “this administration has hurt many communities in Chicago, but CPD is here, and will always be here to stand up for them.”

“This president is known for doing a lot of talking about the city of Chicago,” Johnson said. “But if he’s truly ready to roll up his sleeves to partner with us, so are we—as long as that partnership reflects who we are as Chicagoans.”
Watch:

Trump has repeatedly targeted Chicago and today, he even brought up the case of “Empire” actor Jussie Smollett, saying, “It’s a real big scam, just like the impeachment of your president is a scam.”

Yeaaahh, he just compared the Smollett case to the impeachment inquiry.
