China’s Former Chief Trade Negotiator Wants Trump Re-Elected Because He Is “Easy To Read”

But Trump says he's hard on China.

Donald Trump’s godawful tweeting habit makes him “easy to read,” according to the former trade envoy and point man for China’s WTO negotiations. On Saturday, Trump tweeted and/or retweeted 82 times even though in 2016, he vowed to give up tweeting completely if he is elected president. Trump obviously did not keep that promise and now he’s become a laughingstock, and so has this country for electing such an imbecilic buffoon.

Long Yongtu, the former vice-minister of foreign trade and point man during China’s 15-year talks to join the WTO nearly two decades ago, put it in the nicest way possible, but his description of the U.S. “president” basically amounts to Trump being a shitty negotiator because his tweets make him transparent.

According to the South China Morning Post, Long describes Trump as a transparent and realistic negotiator. Long said Trump is only concerned with material interests such as forcing China to import more American products, on which Beijing is able to compromise.

The “president” would like the world to think he has been taking China to the woodshed and beaten it to a pulp repeatedly over trade negotiations, but Long does not believe the Trump administration has altered its approach to China in a fundamental way.

Long says that Trump makes the US decision-making process efficient and transparent. He believes Trump “basically says what it is.” We suspect he means that Trump has no negotiating skills so he’s easy to read.

“The pros of [having Trump] outweigh the cons,” Long said. “We don’t need to spend so much time figuring out what Americans want anymore, or search for each other’s real thoughts in the dark like we used to.”

China already knows it is a major player in the world. Long said the U.S. has reasons to respect China as a No 2 power with a massive market that it cannot afford to ignore.

As for the US “attacks” on Chinese telecommunication giant Huawei Technologies and other tech firms, Long says it will prove to be a fruitless endeavor as both countries have become deeply entrenched and dependent on each other in a global supply chain.

“We want Trump to be re-elected; we would be glad to see that happen,” Long said.

Well, that was the nicest takedown of Trump we’ve seen in a while. Because if Trump was a badass negotiator, they wouldn’t want him reelected.
