After Trump’s recent revamping of his hateful, racist behavior — complete with attacks against Congresswomen of color, House Oversight Committee officials, entire American cities, and CNN hosts of color — even some of the staunchest of former Trump supporters just can’t get behind him anymore.
Evidently, things have gotten so bad that even Charlotte, North Carolina, the city that’s scheduled to host the 2020 Republican convention, wants out.
The Huffington Post has reported that the city has been exploring its options to withdraw from the convention altogether in light of Trump’s onslaught of racist attacks recently — after the Charlotte City Council passed a resolution to condemn Donald’s repeated “racist and xenophobic” attacks the Congresswomen of color.
Evidently, the city council has been in contact with attorneys in an attempt to find any way possible to back out of their RNC commitment with Trump and his administration — but so far it seems they won’t have any other choice but to go through with the convention, as backing out will result in a plethora of legal fees and possibly a court resolution that could force them to host the event regardless.

One city council member, Dimple Ajmera told HuffPost, “Currently, we have no option to pull out. We are tying ourselves to the most toxic convention in history.”
“Is history going to judge us right five, 10 years down the road?” Ajmera added.
The approval to host the event was a very narrow one, to begin with, only passing by a 6-5 vote last summer. And opposers of the decision, such as Ajmera, have no qualms about expressing their disdain with the decision.
Another opposing member of the Charlotte City Council, Braxton Winston stated, “This is specifically about the racism of this administration and the elements that that brings. I wish we were not bringing that here.” Adding, “This is toxic.”
It seems that Trump’s latest burst of racism has citizens across the country finally checking out of his bullshit. And let me just say, it’s about time.
