There is literally nothing enablers of outgoing president Donald J. Trump can do to overturn the election results after Joe Biden kicked his ass in both the electoral and popular vote. But they tried with Trump supporters storming the U.S. Capitol on Wednesday, leaving Americans in a state of shock while still sheltering at home due to the pandemic that this president failed to act on from the onset of the spreading disease. Right now, even members of Trump’s cabinet are discussing invoking the 25th Amendment to remove the outgoing president.
Trump encouraged his supporters at a rally protesting the election results that he clearly lost to President-elect Joe Biden to go to the Capitol. They did, and America is left in shock as they broke windows, a woman was shot in the chest and later died, and vandalism was a theme for the night.
Now, CNN’s Kaitlan Collins reports that “White House officials were shaken by Trump’s reaction to a mob of his supporters descending on the Capitol today. He was described to me as borderline enthusiastic because it meant the certification was being derailed. It has genuinely freaked people out.”

That’s right, the outgoing president who is supposed to keep Americans safe is overjoyed with the violence that took place. And all of this happened because Trump suffered from a massive narcissistic injury. And while people are “genuinely freaked out,” the president is sitting in our White House watching coverage of the spectacle while feeling “enthusiastic” about what is taking place.
We are better than this. However, the responsibility doesn’t just lie on Trump’s shoulders. It also lies on the Republicans that enabled him for four years, and the ones that objected to certifying President-elect Joe Biden. But hey, at least Donald J. Trump is happy. Isn’t that the point with his enablers while the country is being burned to the ground?
