Congressman Returns To Congress Despite Possible Exposure To Virus After Doctor Apparently Said Self-Quarantine Wasn’t Necessary

MAGA, right?

Congress probably isn’t the best place to go to with Reps Paul Gosar, Doug Collins, and Matt Gaetz all saying they will self-quarantine after interacting with an individual at the conservative conference who has tested positive for the coronavirus. Democratic Rep. Julia Brownley (Calif.) also announced that she would self-quarantine. The House of Representatives has become a giant Petri dish.

The deadly coronavirus has spread to now to at least 36 states and Washington, D.C., with at least 600 cases and totaling 22 deaths in the United States. But Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-Texas), who may have been exposed to COVID-19, decided to return to Congress on Monday, insisting in a series of tweets that he was advised by a Centers of Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) physician that going into self-quarantine isn’t a necessary move for him.

I’m just going to leave this here:

We’re all for following the doctor’s advice unless Gohmert went to a MAGA physician who told him he’s at his peak in life, looking more healthy than any other man alive. We’ve seen all of this play out before, obviously. And, it might #BeBest for those around members of Congress on a daily basis, if out of caution, our elected officials remained at home until they’re given a hall pass to play with others. But Louie is so fucking crazy, he probably thinks the virus is a way for Democrats to gain more seats in the House.

World Health Organization officials said Monday that “the threat of a pandemic has become very real,” but you do you, Louie.
