Republicans seem to take musicians’ names or their music without asking for permission first. Donald Trump did that a lot, but the twice-impeached one-term president doesn’t usually ask for consent. And now, country superstar Reba McEntire fired back at organizers after being wrongly listed as a featured guest at a Republican party fundraiser. McEntire was billed as one of the special guests at a fundraiser for South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem, according to The Daily Beast, but she took to Twitter to explain that she knew nothing about this.
McEntire explained that she would not have said yes because she avoids getting involved in politics.
“Throughout my career, I have stated that I do not get involved in politics and that remains true today,” she wrote.
Last night, an invitation to a political fundraiser with my name attached was sent out without my knowledge or permission. I had and have no plans to attend this event and had told the event organizers as such.

Gov. Kristi Noem’s spokesman, Ian Fury, said in a statement that the campaign had “written confirmation” that McEntire would be taking part in the $500-a-head event for Noem’s reelection bid, according to The Daily Beast.

I’m not aware of McEntire getting involved in politics in the past, so I’ll assume that she’s telling the truth, and with today’s political climate, that’s probably a wise decision on the country singer’s part. Also, Noem is an ally of Trump’s, and the former president is as toxic as it gets. Don’t worry, Republicans. You can always bill Kid Rock or Ted Nugent.
