Andrew Cuomo responded to a reporter’s question about Donald Trump’s bizarre outburst on Twitter in which the president suggested the New York Governor “should spend more time ‘doing’ and less time ‘complaining.'” It appears that, while also calling for a civil war on Twitter, Trump was watching Cuomo’s presser this morning. Twice, Trump called out Cuomo twice on Twitter, because that’s so normal amid a pandemic.

A reporter asked Cuomo about Trump’s tweets during the governor’s daily COVID-19 briefing.

“First of all, if he’s sitting at home watching TV, maybe he should get up and go to work, right?” Cuomo said. “Second, let’s keep emotion and politics out of this, and personal ego, if we can, because this is about the people, it’s about our job, and let’s try to focus on that.”

“I have said repeatedly that when we were fighting for the additional capacity for a hospital system that the president moved very quickly and I applauded him for it,” Cuomo continued.

“Coronavirus White House task force — that’s you,” Cuomo said, referring to the president. “We relied on your projections. OK, shouldn’t have relied on your projections. Actually, I think the president has a better argument, which is, ‘Yes, we built 2,500 beds because the projections said it could get that bad, and because we worked together we flattened the curve and didn’t hit the projection.’”

“How many times do you want me to thank you? But I’m saying thank you for doing your job,” Cuomo added. “This was your role as President.”

Watch:

Trump’s tweets earlier were beyond the pale.

OK, Donald, President Cuomo thanked you again to shut you up, so that maybe, just maybe, you’ll try doing your job for a change. Who am I kidding? Trump hasn’t worked a day in his miserable life.
