Devin Nunes’ Week Appears To Get Worse, Fundraising For His 2020 Opponents Has Increased

He can call up Elise Stefanik for support. She knows what that's like.

Republican Rep. Devin Nunes has found himself in the spotlight here lately and it’s certainly not for flattering reasons. Over the past couple of weeks, Americans have witnessed several rounds of public impeachment inquiry hearings as witness after witness came forth and spilled their guts on Donald Trump and his many transgressions to the House Intelligence Committee.

Americans also saw just how desperate, idiotic, and blindly loyal Trump’s Republican party truly is — harping on debunked right-wing conspiracy theories, launching shameful smear attacks against witnesses in real-time, and grasping at straws, loopholes, and technicalities because they know they don’t have a leg to stand on.

While all of the GOP committee members were pretty damn shameful, one of the worst of the worst was none other than Republican Rep. and former committee chairman, Devin Nunes.

Nunes’ behavior over the course of the hearings certainly hasn’t done him any favors in the public eye. However, he can now boast that he has one more thing in common with his fellow disgraceful GOP rep., Elise Stefanik because his 2020 opponents are making bank off his nonsense.

According to a report from his hometown paper headlined, “Devin Nunes’ impeachment defense marks a breakthrough — for his opponents,” Nunes has accidentally done his challengers quite the favor.

The Fresno Bee reports, “Rep. Devin Nunes’ week at the forefront of President Donald Trump’s impeachment hearings highlighted the catch-22 facing the congressman as he prepares for a 2020 re-election campaign: The more visible he is, the more power his opponents have to run against him.”

The paper even went so far as to note that hashtag #DevinNunesIsAnIdiot was used throughout the impeachment hearings to mock the GOP lawmaker.

Thanks to his ridiculous behavior, Nunes’ challengers have raised quite a bit of funding to challenge the GOP Congressman and his make-believe cow.

“Phil Arballo, a small businessman who has raised the most money in trying to unseat Nunes in 2020, since the start of the impeachment hearings has raised more than $235,000. That’s with an average contribution of $22 from more than 9,000 individual contributors, according to his campaign,” the Fresno paper reported. “Bobby Bliatout, who came in third in the primary against Nunes and Democrat Andrew Janz in 2018, had an ‘800 percent increase in fundraising’ over the week, compared to the previous two weeks, according to Tom Dallas, his campaign manager.”

And it wasn’t just Nunes’ borderline psychotic behavior that landed cash in his opponents’ bank accounts either. According to the newspaper, Devin’s multitude of lawsuits against media outlets that have reported unsavory things about him isn’t helping his case, either.

“Nunes has filed five lawsuits against Twitter, political adversaries and news media organizations this year alleging they conspired to damage his re-election chances and harm his ability to lead the House Intelligence Committee,” The Bee noted. “Those lawsuits also have magnified the audiences of Nunes’ opponents.”

If we’re lucky, all of these GOP reps will keep acting fools and essentially take the trash out for us.
