This evening, Donald Trump and his Coronavirus Task Force held yet another of their now-daily “press briefings” to address the nation regarding the pandemic that’s now officially turned us all on top of our collective heads, wondering how on earth we’re going to get through this thing — this time complete with a really weird cameo from Secretary of State Mike Pompeo.
Frankly, in case you haven’t noticed by now, these things have become less and less informational (as if there ever really were legitimate information coming from these people in the first place) and a whole lot more like makeshift MAGA rallies now that Donald can’t pack arenas with sweaty, toothless crowds to validate himself.
During the briefing, when he wasn’t bragging about himself, Trump was once again touting the claim that hydroxychloroquine, a medication commonly used to treat malaria and lupus, is an effective treatment against COVID-19 — despite the fact that multiple health officials have warned that the drug is unproven, multiple times now.
But this time, Trump decided to add an extra little flair of nonsense to his claims when he went on to tout zinc as an effective treatment in addition to the immunosuppressant and an antibiotic.

“Zinc. They say zinc. You should add zinc. Now, this all has to be recommended by doctors. But they say zinc. I want to throw that out there,” Trump claimed during the briefing.

However, Trump has once again found himself fact-checked in real-time after MSNBC cut away from their coverage of the briefing to question Dr. Vin Gupta about the validity of Donald’s newest claim.
The doctor’s answer when MSNBC asked what the president was talking about?
“I don’t know.”

Frankly, the state of things in this nation right now, I’m willing to bet that every doctor from here to Kalamazoo has been kept up to date on any treatment that even might help sufferers of this deadly virus. So if he has no clue what Trump is talking about, there’s a damn good chance it’s just because Donald is full of shit once again.
