Donald Trump Just Praised Kevin McCarthy For His Hissy Fit On The House Floor And We Wish We Were Surprised

He needs to take a nap.

House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) spoke on the floor of Congress for 8 hours and 32 minutes to delay the passing of the Build Back Better Act that helps regular Americans instead of just the wealthy. McCarthy sounded insane as he explained why he became a Republican on the House floor. He said it was because when he was in the 6th grade, he turned on the television, and Jimmy Carter, who was wearing a sweater, told him to turn the heater down, and I have no idea what he was talking about.

At one point, McCarthy was rambling on while Rep. Madison Cawthorn, who was sitting behind him, stuck chewing tobacco in his mouth. McCarthy spoke of how he opened a deli in his youth, his desire to own a Tesla (and his inability to afford one), a wish that he had been at Tiananmen Square and “knocking down the Berlin Wall,” and that a sandwich was named after him in his hometown. The whole thing was a joke.

Former President Donald Trump heaped praise on McCarthy in a statement tweeted out by his spokesperson Liz Harrington to circumvent his Twitter ban for inciting the deadly Jan. 6 insurrection.

“Great job by Kevin McCarthy last night, setting a record by going over 8 hours of speaking on the House Floor in order to properly oppose Communism,” Trump said. “We must never forget what the Democrats have done, at the highest level of evil. If Mitch McConnell had fought, you would have a different Republican President right now.”

You can see the twice-impeached one-term president’s statement below:

That doesn’t make sense, of course. First of all, the bill isn’t a form of Communism. Not even a little bit. The $1.75 trillion bill funds universal pre-K, Medicare expansion, renewable energy credits, affordable housing, a year of expanded Child Tax Credits, and significant Obamacare subsidies. And I’m not sure what he meant when he suggested that if McConnell helped him overturn the election results, we’d “have a different Republican president right now.” President Biden is a Democrat.
