Donald Trump Reportedly Demanded GOP’s Three Largest Fundraisers To Stop Using His Name On Emails, Branding Or Merchandise Over Fury At Republicans Who Voted To Impeach Him

What a weirdo.

Donald Trump has always thought that he can do whatever he wants, and as president, he displayed that. In 2019, Trump believed that the Constitution gave him a limitless amount of power, “where I have the right to do whatever I want as president.” That’s not how it works, though. The former president was impeached twice for that very same thinking. First, it was for the Ukraine incident, and the second time, it was for inciting the deadly Jan. 6 insurrection to overturn the presidential election after losing to Joe Biden.

Trump has been holding a grudge against the Republicans that voted to impeach him. The former president recently even summoned political advisers and demanded to know more about the ten Republicans who had voted against him. Not much has changed with Trump since then.

Politico reports that Trump sent out legal warnings to the three biggest fundraising groups for the Republican Party, ordering them to stop using his name and likeness on emails and merchandise. Trump is still furious at the Republicans that held the former president accountable for his own actions. Trump sent cease-and-desist letters Friday to the RNC, NRC, and NRSC, according to what a Trump adviser told Politico’s Playbook.

“We reported yesterday that Trump was furious that his name has been bandied about by organizations that help Republicans who voted to impeach him — without his permission,” the report states. “Trump, who made his fortune in licensing, has always been sensitive to how his name has been used to fundraise and support members, even while in office.”

“On Friday, the RNC sent out two emails asking supporters to donate as a way to add their name to a “thank you” card for Trump. “President Trump will ALWAYS stand up for the American People, and I just thought of the perfect way for you to show that you support him!” the email states,” the outlet reports. “As one of President Trump’s MOST LOYAL supporters, I think that YOU, deserve the great honor of adding your name to the Official Trump ‘Thank You’ Card.” A follow-up email was sent hours later to “President Trump’s TOP supporters” warning of a deadline of 10 hours to get their names on the card.”

A Trump adviser responded, saying that the entities needed the former president’s approval to use his name and likeness.

“President Trump remains committed to the Republican Party and electing America First conservatives, but that doesn’t give anyone – friend or foe – permission to use his likeness without explicit approval,” the Trump adviser said.

I don’t recall previous presidents sending out legal warnings over fundraising efforts for their party, but here we are.
