Donald Trump isn’t one to take advice; he doesn’t even read relevant intelligence reports like the one warning of the massive COVID-19 pandemic that has brought the world to a standstill. A sitting president has experts at his disposal, but the failed frozen steak salesman thinks he’s more knowledgable than them.
The Washington Post reported that during one of the task force meetings in the Situation Room last month, Trump stunned White House coronavirus task force member Dr. Anthony Fauci by asking, “Why don’t we let this wash over the country?”
That happened on the day the Trump administration was adding Ireland and the United Kingdom to its travel restrictions, and the president, according to two sources, wanted to understand why there was talk in the U.K. of “herd immunity.” “Why don’t we let this wash over the country?” Trump asked. Even worse, unnamed administration officials told the news outlet he had asked that same question repeatedly in the Oval Office.
According to the Post, Fauci was initially confused by the term “wash over,” but when he realized what Trump was asking, he was alarmed.

“Mr. President, many people would die,” Fauci explained to Trump.
A study concluded that the now-abandoned mitigation strategy would have resulted in hundreds of thousands of deaths. Again, though, we have a president who doesn’t read.
As for reopening the economy:
One senior administration official worried that some in the White House are trying to reverse engineer their desired outcome. ‘They already know what they want to do and they’re looking for ways to do it,’ this person said, speaking anonymously to share candid insights. ‘They think it’s time to reopen because some thought it was never time to close, and they’ve made that up in their minds.'”
What the Post reported is completely believable considering it was just last year during hurricane season that Trump came up with a doozy of an idea. The former reality show star repeatedly raised the possibility of dropping nuclear weapons into hurricanes to dissolve them before they ever endanger land. Nuclear weapons.
That raving lunatic is going to get us all killed. Everyone who voted for him needs to sit in a corner while they are self-isolating and think about that bad thing they did.
