Dr. Birx Doesn’t Appear To Hold Trump Accountable — Tries To Make Excuses For Trump’s Remark On Disinfectant: “He Was Still Digesting That Information”

This can't be real life.

Dr. Deborah Birx, who serves on the Coronavirus Task Force, has a Trumpian tone to her as she attempts to defend the indefensible. It seems as if those in Trump’s orbit don’t want us to believe what we hear or what we see, and there’s an Orwell quote for that. Dr. Scarf has backed up Trump before, and this time, she was interviewed in front of the White House for Fox News’ Jesse Watters show that is supposed to air tomorrow night.

Fox News has been highly problematic in airing shows that fly in the face of reality in response to the COVID-19 pandemic that has gripped this country, taking over fifty thousand lives, and leaving twenty-six million Americans jobless as we shelter at home to flatten the coronavirus curve. The network has circulated dangerous rhetoric and even denied there was a looming threat when it became known.

Dr. Birx tried to defend the bizarre remarks that Trump made on Thursday in which the president suggested people who have contracted the potentially deadly virus could inject disinfectant as a treatment for the disease. Trump also claimed that light and heat could cure the virus.

There really is no excuse for Trump to relay junk-science to the public amid a national health crisis, but Dr. Birx did. And seriously, my 8-year-old niece knows better than to start mainlining Clorox to fight a deadly virus.

“When he gets new information, he likes to talk that through out loud,” Dr. Birx said out loud, unfortunately. “I think he just saw the information at the time immediately before the press conference, and he was still digesting.”

Watch:

Dr. Birx just contradicted Trump’s earlier comment as the president tried to explain his remarks. Trump claimed on Friday that he was being sarcastic when he suggested multiple times on Thursday that doctors should consider exposing the body to light and heat, as well as inject disinfectants into the bodies of people who contracted the potentially deadly disease to treat the coronavirus.

“I was asking a sarcastic, and a very sarcastic question, to the reporters in the room about disinfectant on the inside. But it does kill it,” Trump insisted.

It can’t be both, doctor.
