Dr Fauci Brilliantly Dismantles Rand Paul’s Argument During Hearing

This is AMAZING.

Trump and his GOP cronies have spent the entirety of this deadly pandemic, quite literally from day one, attempting to completely delegitimize the severity of a transmittable illness that has now claimed the lives of over 200,000 Americans.

From the moment we knew that the virus was spreading on American soil, their motto has seemingly been “It’s just not a big deal, folks!” As the death toll continues to rise, their argument has stayed much the same, with the addition of attempting to lay the blame at the feet of “liberal” cities with Democratic leadership — despite the fact that some of the hardest-hit states are, in fact, very much so Republican-led.

To say the very least, those of us living out here in the real world where tests are still scarce and widely inaccessible as we try to wade through this mess, are getting more than a little exasperated with the behavior and rhetoric that we steadily see coming out of Trump’s people. But as it turns out, it’s not just us.

During a hearing on the coronavirus response today, Dr. Anthony Fauci found himself seemingly rather irritated with Senator and fellow doctor, Rand Paul who attempted to bash the state of New York, and more specifically New York governor Andrew Cuomo.

Paul began by criticizing Fauci for praising New York, claiming, “New York had the highest death rate in the world. How could we possibly be jumping up and down and saying ‘Oh, Governor Cuomo did a great job’? He had the worst death rate in the world.”

But Fauci was not having it.

“No. You misconstrued that, Senator,” Dr. Fauci fired back. “And you’ve done that repetitively in the past. They got hit very badly, they’ve made some mistakes. Right now, if you look at what’s going on right now, the things that are going on in New York to get their test positivity one percent or less is because they are looking at the guidelines that we have put together from the task force…”

Paul tried to retort by blaming New York’s current success on herd immunity, but again, Fauci wasn’t here for it.

“I challenge that, Senator,” Fauci stated as Rand continued to interrupt him. Fauci ultimately asked for the floor to address Paul’s statement as this is something the senator does “all the time.”

“You are not listening to what the director of the CDC said,” Fauci continued before explaining what’s going on in New York at the current time.

Any questions, Rand?
