Experts are once again weighing on Donald Trump’s mental health, this time pointing to his deteriorating vocabulary. We’ve all seen Trump bragging about the “Sock” Market, the “United Shtates,” and lashing out at “Stankuary” cities. None of that is normal, of course, but Trump supporters give their president a pass each time, but it’s alarming for the rest of us to witness his mental decline, especially since he has the nuclear codes.
When Trump left a tweet up for hours that said “Covfefe” with no explanation given, that should have been taken as a warning sign. Instead, Trump supporters thought it was cool and changed their Twitter handles to use the non-word.
Ben Michaelis, a psychologist from New York City, said, according to the International Business Times, that there has been a clear reduction in Trump’s linguistic sophistication in recent years. Michaelis said Trump’s and choice of words and sentence structure have also become very simple.
“In fairness to Trump, he’s 70 so some decline in his cognitive functioning over time would be expected,” he said.

John Montgomery, a fellow psychologist from New York City, said that Trump would to undergo rigorous testing in order to find out what’s going on with the president.
“But I think it’s pretty safe to say that Trump has had significant cognitive decline over the years,” he said.
Neuropsychologist Sterling Johnson from the University of Wisconsin weighed in to say that Trump’s difficulty in saying words might also have to do with the pressure he’s under, including the many scandals he is involved in.
“It could also be due to a neurodegenerative disease or the normal cognitive decline that comes with aging,” he said.
Mental health professionals have previously pointed to Trump’s fragile ego, and warned that the president is “dangerous,” saying that his mental state is arising from his “brittle sense of self-worth.” Trump can’t handle even the slightest bit of criticism as it causes him to lash out for days. Republicans are terrified of him, so they’ve become complicit in allowing Trump to morph into a Dollar Store Dictator.
