Fauci Just Publicly Contradicted Trump’s Boasts About Lower COVID Death Rate: “It’s A False Narrative To Take Comfort In A Lower Rate Of Death”

Trump is misleading the public, and Dr. Fauci is still working to make sure Americans get the truth.

Despite being blocked from making television appearances on some networks, Dr. Anthony Fauci is still working to educate the public about the coronavirus, especially whenever Donald Trump talks about it.

On multiple occasions this week, Trump has claimed that the United States has the lowest coronavirus mortality rate in the world.

The mortality rate is currently 4.6 percent, more than four times higher than Trump claimed over the weekend when he downplayed the virus by saying that it’s “harmless” in 99 percent of cases. White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany even blew up Trump’s claim by showing a scientific chart with the real mortality rate figures on it. Other nations, such as several in Europe, have higher mortality rates.

Of course, the United States has a far bigger population to go along with that 4.6 percent, and our country also has the highest death toll in the world at more than 130,000. And that’s why Dr. Fauci, an infectious diseases expert, contradicted Trump’s boast and warned Americans to not let Trump’s claims make them complacent. They need to take this virus seriously.

“It’s a false narrative to take comfort in a lower rate of death,” Fauci said during a presser with Senator Doug Jones (D-Ala.). “There’s so many other things that are very dangerous and bad about this virus. Don’t get yourself into false complacency.”

Listening to Trump instead of health professionals like Fauci is the worst mistake Americans could possibly make right now. Trump does not have the best interests of the people at heart. He only cares about pretending that this pandemic is ending so he can declare some kind of victory to help himself get re-elected. But the number of cases is only skyrocketing and more deaths will likely follow.
