Florida Surgeon General Was Physically Removed From A Briefing, Apparently Because He Wouldn’t Follow MAGA Narrative On Social Distancing

In case you were wondering what “Trump’s America” looks like, the Surgeon General in the state of Florida was physically removed from a briefing recently and it appeared to be because he refused to peddle the Trump administration narrative regarding social distancing guidelines and vaccinations for the coronavirus pandemic.

Donald Trump has spent the last several weeks trying to convince this nation that he has a level of power equivalent to a king and it seems to be having a trickle-down effect on some of his surrogates.

Florida Governor Ron Desantis has already made it crystal clear throughout this pandemic that he intends to adhere to Donald Trump’s erratic whims above all else and it appears that he expects his state’s Surgeon General to do the same.

A video of Florida’s Surgeon General, Scott A. Rivkees, being physically removed from Gov. DeSantis’ cabinet coronavirus meeting by DeSantis’ Communications Director, Helen Aguirre Ferré, just moments after he stated that the social distancing measures currently being implemented because of the outbreak should continue to be enforced until a vaccine from the virus is available quickly made the rounds on social media recently.

“So as long as we’re going to have COVID[-19] in the environment, and this is a tough virus, we’re going to have to practice these measures so that we are all protected,” Rivkees stated during the meeting, as seen on the video.

He was then asked how soon he thought a vaccination for the virus would be available, to which he responded, “Based on what has been reported, probably a year if not longer is what some individuals have talked about.”

It was then that Ferré approached the Surgeon General and can be seen whispering close to his ear as Rivkees nods his head and says “okay” several times.

Ferré then approached him a second time, as Rivkees rose from his seat and was accompanied out of the meeting by DeSantis’ Communications Director.

The Governor’s office quickly got ahead of the rumors and video with a statement alleging that Rivkees’ dismissal from the meeting had nothing to do with what he said.

“Dr. Rivkees was not pulled out of the press conference, which ran longer than expected,” press secretary Cody McCloud told Newsweek. “He had a pre-scheduled meeting with Governor DeSantis’ Deputy Chief of Staff Adrian Lukis he needed to attend. Afterwards, he went to the State Emergency Operations Center with DEM Director Jared Moskowitz.”

However, it’s impossible to ignore the fact that the Republican Florida Governor has been a staunch supporter of reopening the country sooner than later, under the direction of Donald Trump.

Unless Rivkees himself speaks out, we’ll likely never know why he left that meeting. But in today’s “Trump America,” it’s certainly easy to make an educated guess.
