FL's Ron DeSantis Claims Jan. 6th Anniversary Isn't Something "Most Floridians Have Been Concerned About," Says Today's DC Events Marking The Somber Day Will Be "Nauseating"

Republican Florida Governor Ron DeSantis used the anniversary of the deadly Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol to say that people in the Sunshine State aren’t concerned that a mob of Trump supporters attempted a coup one year ago. So, there are a lot of Republicans that would like nothing better than to have the rest of us forget the attack on our democracy, but Democrats live in Florida, too, so DeSantis just slapped a good portion of the residents in that state in the face.

DeSantis said that the anniversary of Jan. 6 is “not something that most Floridians have been concerned about.” He then went on to say that the events in Washington D.C. today will be “nauseating” and a “politicized Charlie Foxtrot,” military slang for clusterfuck. He said he doesn’t expect “anything good to come out of anything that Pelosi and the gang are doing.”

Remarks came in a telling split-screen.

DeSantis was speaking as President Biden and Vice President Harris prepared to address the nation, saying Democracy withstood a serious attack on January 6th.

Look, I realize that President Biden just wiped the floor with former President Donald Trump as he took his twice-impeached one-term ass to the woodshed, calling him a defeated former President and a liar — but DeSantis and his Republican colleagues are going to have to deal with the truth.

Republicans have allowed the former President to continue propagating his big lie of widespread voter fraud that didn’t occur in the 2020 election, even though that’s what led to the deadly insurrection. Not only is this rhetoric embarrassing, but it’s dangerous, too. Republicans are complicit, and we’re looking at you, DeSantis. If Floridians don’t care about one of the worst attacks on U.S. soil, we’ll keep reminding them because we care about this country. And because we care about the rule of law. The law and order party obviously don’t.
