Just hours after Donald Trump sent out a tweet saying that it’s “patriotic” to wear a mask that included a photo of the president finally mastering the skills of how to put one on amid the raging pandemic, our “favorite president” was seen at a fundraiser without a mask on his grinning face. And honestly, you guys, Trump bragging on Twitter that he’s finally wearing a mask months into the pandemic is just pathetic. Trump is trying to garner votes by showing off a photograph of himself with a protective face mask, though it’s something he has refused to do since the pandemic hit the United States. Presumptive Democratic nominee Joe Biden has led by example and consistently worn one, though.

First, the virus already has a name: COVID-19. And a leader shouldn’t seek kudos for wearing a simple mask, but OK. To show how hollow the president’s tweet was, here’s Trump at a fundraiser at his hotel in Washington DC.

Republicans in attendance appear to be living it up as if the disease has not inundated our country while ignoring the mayor’s guidelines.

Several Republicans heaped praise on Trump for his tweet encouraging mask-wearing, but it was a shallow message. And while Americans are still sheltering at home, and wearing face masks to protect others, our esteemed president doesn’t give a shit about the mountain of bodies he is responsible for. I’ve lost count as to how many Benghazis we’re up to now.
