The fact that the Republican Party is practically crumbling under Donald Trump’s presidency won’t surprise anyone, but when you actually hear about what’s going on inside the GOP, things look even worse than they do from outside.

Philippe Reines, the former senior advisor to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, has given us some very disturbing information about how Trump’s governing pattern has been affecting the Republican Party as he spoke about the president’s recent threat to close the U.S.–Mexico border. Offering his expertise, Reines stated that the president’s recent actions followed a pattern that has always resulted in Trump looking like an idiot. He said:

I think it’s shaping up to be another one of the situations where he just completely doesn’t understand the situation, the dynamics, the politics back in Washington. This is feeling in the early days of the shutdown, where he feels he gets this idea in his head and he gets a lot of the right wing to say ‘shut it, shut it, shut it.’

And when it practically comes time to shut it, it starts going badly. You’ll start getting the pictures of students who can’t get across the border, people can’t get to hospitals and it will start looking not so great.”

Then Reines brought up key characters in the Republican Party and how they’ve been responding to Trump.

Any minute then, Ann Coulter will emerge with one of her tweets calling him an idiot and Mitch McConnell will just sit there laughing because he knows there’s nothing he can do. I mean he has stayed ten feet away from this thing. At the end of the day, it’s Republican-on-Republican violence. He can blame Nancy Pelosi all he wants but this has been going on two years prior to the midterms.”

That was followed by this hard truth:

Jeb, Paul Ryan, Speaker Boehner, I’m not sure if I’m missing any. If any of those three had been president, you actually would get the things done that Trump is trying.”

That’s a hard pill to swallow, but we all know it’s true. Trump is destroying the Republican Party and the GOP can’t do anything about it. You can watch the video below:
