Life has officially hit rock bottom for Donald J. Trump, with no sign of reprieve in sight, as POLITICO reports on remarks made by a former DOJ counterintelligence chief, who made it clear that the United States Justice Department, in his professional opinion, looks to be on the track headed straight towards criminal charges against the scandal-ridden ex-president in their mounting Mar-a-Lago investigation.

Donald Trump was, of course, subjected to a bombshell FBI search and seizure warrant raid at his Mar-a-Lago compound turned post-White House home just short of a month ago. In the days and weeks since the explosive news broke, we have discovered that the search warrant raid, handed down by the Biden Justice Department and signed off on by Attorney General Merrick Garland himself, was in direct relation to the countless boxes Donald Trump stole from the White House, stuffed full of highly-classified, top-secret documents and materials, and took with him to his Palm Beach country club.

The DOJ, in collaboration with the National Archives and Records Administration, made countless attempts to retrieve the documents and materials from the ex-president’s compound before resorting to such an extreme as a search and seizure warrant. However, it was discovered that the ex-president and his allies repeatedly lied about having turned over everything in their possession, and officials had it on good authority, presumably from a Mar-a-Lago insider who informed on Trump, that the ex-president was still harboring a number of confidential, sensitive, and top-secret documents and materials at his unsecured resort.

Now, former chief of the counterespionage section at the Justice Department’s national security division, David Laufman, tells POLITICO, “It seems to me it’s moving in the direction of warranting criminal charges.”

“I think [Trump] has significant criminal exposure. Whether they ultimately decide to exercise prosecutorial discretion in favor of prosecuting him is another question,” he added.

The Department of Justice released a 36-page court filing this week, complete with damning photos from inside the ex-president’s resort, that shed new light on the strength of the DOJ’s case against the ex-president and to be frank, if anyone should know what they’re talking about in this scenario, it’s Laufman.
