We hear you loud and clear, buddy.

Look, even I have been cautiously hopeful that as time went on, people on the Right would begin to understand and accept that the 2020 presidential election was a free and fair election that Donald Trump rightfully and fairly lost to now-President Joe Biden — and I cover this mess every day. But here we are, six months after President Biden’s inauguration, and I’m beginning to lose what little hope I had, as these people continue to show absolutely no signs of seeing or accepting the truth.

Enter Steven Mnuchin.

The former Treasury Secretary made an appearance on CNBC this morning where he pretty much proved my point — these people will never change. Whatever it was about the Trump presidency has rotted their common sense to the point that they will believe this election was stolen until the day they die.

Speaking on the segment this morning, Mnuchin was plainly asked by the network host if he thought the narrative coming from former President Trump claiming that the 2020 presidential election was stolen from him is a lie.

Mnuchin didn’t have an answer.

Instead, the former Treasury Secretary danced around a decent answer to the question, ultimately refusing to answer directly, giving the host a truckload of whataboutism.

“Well, let me just say, I was very, very involved in the campaign in 2016,” Mnuchin began his response. “In 2020, I wasn’t able to participate in the campaign and I was focused on the massive amount of work in COVID. So, I’m really just watching this from the outside.”

The CNBC host wasn’t willing to leave things there and continued to press Mnuchin for an actual answer to his question, stating, “But even from the outside, you were the Secretary of the Treasury and you had some access to the Trump administration and to the White House, you know how he campaigned. Is it a lie for the former president to say that the election was stolen?”

Bu Mnuchin wouldn’t budge.

“What I’m saying is I’m focused on our investments, our business going forward. I think the president’s policies were extraordinary in COVID, whether it’s the vaccine or other issues. All the work we did under COVID, the bipartisan report we had to get the economy recovered.”

Despite your non-answer, Mnuchin, we all heard you loud and clear.
