Recently we reported on the rather surprising new revelation from Jared Kushner, straight from his own upcoming memoir, that Ivanka’s husband was diagnosed with and treated for thyroid cancer during his time as a senior aide in his father-in-law’s White House.

But one fellow former Trump White House official (who Jared’s had some documented beef with in the past) is now speaking up and seemingly suggesting that Donald’s son-in-law essentially faked the entire thing in an effort to rake in the sympathy that would help him sell copies of his new tell-all book.

The New York Times first reported on Jared’s cancer claims in an excerpt from Breaking History: A White House Memoir. Kushner claims in his tell-all that he received the thyroid cancer diagnosis in October of 2019 and attempted to hide the news from his father-in-law, but the then-president eventually found out anyway.

During an interview earlier this week with Newsmax, reported on by Mediaite, former White House trade advisor Peter Navarro said he wasn’t buying it — ultimately suggesting that Ivanka’s hubby made up the whole thing to garner some sympathy, because why would Jared hide such a big diagnosis from his father-in-law, Donald Trump?

“That thyroid thing, that came out of nowhere,” Navarro said. “I saw the guy every day. There’s no sign that he was in any pain or danger or whatever. I think it’s just sympathy to try to sell his book now.”

Navarro has had past beef with the former president’s son-in-law and senior advisor, so it doesn’t come as a huge surprise that he’s trying to pour cold water on Jared’s claims.

Symptoms of thyroid cancer range from swelling and pain in the neck, to a sore throat, and difficulty swallowing, according to Mayo ClinicHowever, cancer of the thyroid tends to not even show symptoms at all in its early stages, and Kushner claimed that his was caught very early on.

In the interview, Navarro went on to call Ivanka’s husband a “one-man wrecking crew” whose “only qualification was that he was the boss’s son-in-law.”
