There have been a lot of different ideas about how Donald Trump could be removed from office, and yet another brilliant case has come to light. A former U.S. attorney has suggested the perfect remedy for Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation that would prove that the president “procured the presidency by fraud.”

Speaking with guest host Jonathan Capehart and fellow U.S. attorney Joyce Vance, former U.S. attorney Barbara McQuade appeared on a panel for MSNBC’s AM Joy to discuss some of the most shocking news coverage that has come out of the Mueller probe.  During the discussion, Vance said:

I think one of the most important takeaway was there actually is an extra-legal takeaway. It’s the notion that — as American citizens — a candidate lied to us during the campaign. That has legal implications for the Muller investigation, but the bottom line her is that all the time that Trump during the campaign was telling us he had no dealings in Russia, no business in Russia, he was actually sitting on top of a deal that was designed to bring in hundreds of millions of dollars according to filings that we’ve seen this week. This is really shocking.”

McQuade couldn’t agree more, and even took Vance’s argument further. She said:

This is a significant matter. This is not just a regulatory offense when you talk about campaign finance violations. It could be that President Trump procured the presidency by fraud. Democracy is about giving full information to voters so they can cast a ballot for the candidate of their choice. And by lying and covering up his past on the eve of the election and isolating the laws designed to create transparency, they say that President Trump clouded the process for the American voters.”

McQuade then made the perfect argument to put Trump’s shady actions into a context that would lead to Trump being stripped of his presidency. She said:

When immigrants procure their citizenship by fraud, we strip them of their citizenship. When a president procures his presidency by fraud, should we consider doing the same?”

That is absolutely brilliant, and we could not agree more.
