Fox News Appears To Be Laying The Foundation For Republicans To Invalidate Election Results And Put Trump In For Another 4 Years

Well, this is insane.

Even though President-elect Joe Biden garnered the popular vote by a significant number and the electoral vote, Donald Trump has been stalling out the process with legal maneuvers that have basically come up empty so far. And frankly, this election has been the most taxing of our lifetimes with a president that seems to be clinging to power. And it really didn’t help Americans’ anxiety levels when Fox News senior White House correspondent John Roberts now said that he’s “not sure” who will win the election even though the network previously called it for Biden.

Roberts explained to Fox News host Bill Hemmer that he thinks Republican legislators will have a “hard time” allowing electors to cast their votes for Biden on December 14th. And it gets bizarre from there, you guys.

“One thing is that if they do manage to prolong this process, we start to get into December,” Roberts said. “There comes a time when these electors have to be seated to vote on who will become president of the United States. And I’m told that the anger out there in these red states is so deep and so palpable, the GOP legislators may have a difficult time seating Biden electors when it comes down to putting in place that process for the vote on December 14th.”

“That would be something,” Hemmer responded.

“At some point, you know, people keep on assuring us that on January the 20th, a president will be inaugurated,” Roberts added. “We’re just not sure at this point whether it will be a new president or the current president.”

“That’s some really interesting reporting,” Hemmer said.

Watch:

Could this happen with electors going against the will of the people? Yeah, actually it could. Members of the Electoral College — except Maine and Nebraska — are pledged to vote for the candidate who got the highest vote-count in their state. But, in many states, they can break that pledge and vote for another candidate. The electors who break that pledge are called faithless electors — and if there are electors that are Trump loyalists, then we might be screwed. And excuse me because I might take up day drinking now.

PS: The Electoral College is trash.
