Fox News Doctor Agreed With Reopening Schools Early Because “Only 2–3 Percent” Of Kids May Die: “A Tradeoff Some Folks Would Consider”

Absolutely inconceivable.

While it’s certainly true that you wouldn’t necessarily call any regular contributor to the Fox News Network’s constant litany of lies a “good person,” occasionally one guest shows up and really takes a moment to shine as an honest-to-goodness monster, head and shoulders above the rest of the Trump toadies, brain-worm conservatives, and just general assholes who appear on the channel’s programming.

Circling the internet for the past few weeks is a video clip of one such pile of trash, in this case, Dr. Mehmet Oz, who has become a fixture on both the panel shows on Fox and on the primetime programming like Sean Hannity.

It was during a spot on Hannity that Dr. Oz — a name many in America still associate with Oprah Winfrey, after five years as a “health expert” on her daytime talk show, and then the host of his own talk show — took off his metaphorical mask and showed himself to be the kind of person that makes you wonder how on earth they sleep at night.

Adhering to the current trend of Republicans and conservatives insisting that we must reopen the economy, resume business as usual, and go about our normal lives as though there’s not still a pandemic raging across the country, Dr. Oz told Hannity that he thought the idea of getting kids back in school was an “appetizing opportunity” to “get our mojo back” in America.

I tell you, schools are a very appetizing opportunity. I just saw a nice piece in the Lancet arguing that the opening of schools may only cost us 2 or 3 percent in terms of total mortality, and you know, any life is a life lost, but to get every child back into a school where they’re safely being educated, being fed, and making the most out of their lives, with a theoretical risk on the back side, might be a tradeoff some folks would consider.”

I don’t know about you, but I just got a little bit sick. That’s 1.1–1.7 million kids he’s talking about. Whether or not he got the number from the medical journal Lancet or not, I doubt that the piece he read “argued” that “only” that many kids would die. And the fact that Dr. Oz thinks the parents of a million and a half kids would trade them off in order to get schools open again is nothing short of a glimpse into the mind of a depraved lunatic.

Was the crisis in Afghanistan surrounding the pull out of American Troops Biden's fault or Trump's fault?
