FOX News Sunday host Chris Wallace tore into Trump campaign spokeswoman Lara Trump after the final night of the Republican National Convention displayed a “super-spreader event” with most of the 1,500 attendees refusing to wear a simple protective face mask, and social distancing guidelines were ignored. Even worse, the crowd gathered on the White House South Lawn Thursday for the world to see that our leadership doesn’t take the raging coronavirus pandemic seriously.
“Let’s talk about the fall campaign because we’re told that starting after Labor Day — though he’s already started — the president is expected to go out a couple of times a week and hold rallies of some sort,” Wallace said. “This last week, on Thursday, as part of the Republican convention, the president gave his acceptance speech on the White House’s South Lawn.”
“Lara, is the president just going to ignore the public health guidelines?” Wallace asked Lara Trump.
Trump insisted that people just want to get back to normal.

“I think we all have to recognize that people want to get back to normal,” she said. “And you know what? Maybe it’s going to a Trump rally that does that, but we are always following the guidelines.”
Wallace wasn’t having it and noted the recklessness of the event amid the pandemic.
“But some health officials say — well, you know, the fact is you did stack the chairs right next to each other,” Wallace said. “Some health officials say this has the potential to be a super-spreader event.”

The fact of the matter is that we would have been back to “normal” months ago if we had a real leader instead of one that unleashes tweets calling to “liberate” states that are in lockdown. If everyone had stayed home for six weeks, we would be out there enjoying our lives. And now, we’re witnessing super-spreader events featuring the president of the United States. It didn’t have to be this hard, you guys.
