A whole slew of people on the Right has been desperately trying to do damage control with regard to former President Donald Trump, Russian dictatorial President Vladimir Putin, and Putin’s violent invasion and attack against Ukraine. In the days leading up to and directly following the attack against Ukraine, Donald Trump has done little more than lob his praises on and excuses for the Russian dictator, blamed the whole mess on President Biden and the fact that he lost the election to him, and attempted to take credit for everything from NATO to the weapons Ukraine has — despite the fact that he was literally impeached during his term for withholding aid from the very same country to try and extort their leadership into giving him dirt of Joe Biden when he was still his political opponent.
Last night, Donald Trump made an appearance on Fox News’ Sean Hannity’s segment, where the Fox talking head appeared to desperately try to help the ex-president rehab his image in the wake of the Russian invasion of Ukraine after Trump called the attack “genius” and referred to the Russian dictator as “savvy.”
But Donald wasn’t having it.
During the interview, Hannity tried desperately to downplay Trump’s praises of the Russian president.

“You came under some fire when you said Vladimir Putin’s very smart,” the Fox host stated. “I think I know you a little bit better than most people in the media, and I think you also recognize he’s evil, do you not?”
Trump didn’t bite. Instead, he seemingly side skirted the question entirely before going on to change the subject altogether.
“Well I was referring to the fact that he said this is an independent nation,” Trump responded, referencing Vladimir Putin’s declaration that eastern portions of Ukraine were now their own states. “This was before there was any attack! He’s calling it an independent nation! Now, a lot of things are changing, now look, this doesn’t seem to be the same Putin I was dealing with! But I will tell you, he wouldn’t have changed if I were dealing with him, he wouldn’t have changed!”
Can we all just admit that Trump’s on Putin’s side now?
