GOP Acknowledges They’re Doing “Poorly” In Their Attempts To Take Down President Biden

Things aren't working out so well for the GOP.

It was certainly no secret that the Republican Party had every intention to dismantle Joe Biden’s presidency in every way they could dream up. Frankly, they themselves made their plans strikingly clear before Biden had even officially taken office. However, here we are a few months into the Biden era, and GOPers are already admitting that their attempts to take President Biden down aren’t going according to plan… At all.

With nearly 100 days in the White House under Biden’s belt, Republicans are finding the current President and his policies extremely difficult to message against — being that, in stark contrast to his predecessor, Biden tends to keep a low profile and refuses to engage in the verbal sparring and back and forth that Washington became accustomed to during the Trump era.

Biden’s calm, cool, and collective demeanor has presented a serious issue for Republicans trying to tear him down, so much so that many of them are already acknowledging that they’re seriously missing the mark.

No. 2 Senate Republican John Thune said of his party’s success, or lack thereof, in defining the Biden administration, “We need to get better at it. I don’t think sometimes our messaging is as sharp as it should be because a lot of the things they’re doing are things that are popular—when you’re spending money, you’re popular.”

Senator Mike Braun, when asked how his party is doing so far replied, “Poorly.”

“He’s been out with a dialogue of unity and bipartisanship and almost pulled off a masterpiece in that there’s not been any of that. And that we need to be clarifying that. I think the invitations to the White House, I was on one of those. … What did we end up with? Zero,” Braun stated.

The Hill reports that Republicans are placing their bets on voters turning on President Biden over his trillion-dollar spending.

“His tone is moderate and he’s an affable person, he’s a likable individual and a lot of us know him, have relationships with him and it’s probably harder to attack somebody who is relatable and likable,” Thune said before adding, “if he continues down the left, the far-left lane, with respect to policy, that eventually that will start to catch up with him.”

However, that isn’t shaking out for Republicans so far, as Biden continues to receive praise on his style as well as his substance as recently as this week.

Republicans didn’t waste any time in supporting the newest sanctions that President Biden’s administration implemented against Russia. Then, to make matters worse for the party that’s trying to work against this presidential administration, Biden’s speech at the memorial for a Capitol Police officer killed this month was so heartfelt and graceful that it actually earned him praise from Fox News, one of the biggest news outlets for conservatives in the United States — with host Harris Faulkner calling President Biden “iconic” for delivering “kindness and empathy.”

Senators within the Republican party, many of whom have known the now-president for decades, have been willing to admit that, politics aside, they’re fond of Joe Biden.

Even Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell said during a recent stop in his home state of Kentucky that President Biden is leading a “left-wing administration” but added that Joe was a “first-rate person.”

“I like him personally, I mean, we’ve been friends for a long time,” McConnell said of President Biden.

Senators in the Republican party feel that President Biden’s “nice guy” reputation and very calm, moderate tone has helped to insulate him politically, making their “job” of tearing him down that much more difficult.

“I think right now he’s in a little bit of a honeymoon period because he seems like a nice guy, which he is. But people think just because you’re a nice guy you’re sort of a moderate person, and he’s not governing like a moderate,” said Sen. John Cornyn said.

“It’s always harder to fight against a nice person because usually, people will sort of give him the benefit of the doubt,” he went on to add.

It seems as though some GOPers are hoping to take Biden down through via the border situation, with Senator Ron Johnson saying, “I think he’s defined himself. … I think all we have to do is point out what he’s doing, the disaster at the border.”

Johnson also harped on the popular GOP talking point that the media is slanted in favor of Democrats, saying, “when you have the mainstream media in your back pocket, you’re going to stay popular.”

I can only imagine that after all the smack the GOP and Donald Trump talked during the last months of the Trump presidency, Republicans expected Joe Biden to be an easy target. But the President has done what he’s said he would do. He has handled himself with poise and grace. And he has served as the powerful adversary to a corrupt party that we all knew he would be.
