In your face, Mr. Trump.

Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s job approval rating remains strong, and in contrast, Donald Trump’s does not. Whitmer has stuck to the guidelines to keep her constituents safe. Trump has been holding super-spreader rallies to largely maskless crowds of MAGA supporters. Also, Whitmer has been a favorite target of Trump’s, even after the FBI foiled a kidnapping and possible assassination plot, and that likely doesn’t bode well for Michigan residents.

A majority of Michigan voters approve of Whitmer, whereas Trump’s job approval is about 15 percentage points lower than the Governor’s, according to a Detroit News-WDIV-TV poll.

According to WDIV, the new survey released on Tuesday asked Michigan voters for their feelings regarding the 2020 presidential race, key issues, and on Gov. Whitmer and the president’s handling of the coronavirus pandemic.

According to the survey, nearly 54% of Michigan voters view Gov. Whitmer favorably, and 59% approve of the job she’s doing. The job approval number went up to 61% about her handling of the COVID-19 pandemic.

On the other side, 37% viewed Whitmer unfavorably, while 38% disapproved of the job she is doing, and 37% disapproved of her handling of the coronavirus pandemic.

Trump will hate this:

By contrast, Trump’s job performance remained consistent at 44% approval and 52% disapproval — a double-digit contrast with Whitmer. The Republican president’s handling of the pandemic dropped to a 55% disapproval rating and 39% approval — a more than 20-point gap with the governor.

The survey further notes that Whitmer has strong support from suburban voters.

During his rally in Lansing, Michigan, on Tuesday, the president told the campaign rally crowd that the kidnapping plot that targeted her “maybe” wasn’t a “problem” and coaxed his supporters into a chant of “lock her up,” according to Buzzfeed News.

Trump has failed to keep the United States safe amid the pandemic, and by continuing to lash out at the Governor of Michigan, he puts her life in further danger. Whitmer has taken the pandemic seriously, whereas Trump has mocked mask-wearing and social distancing while encouraging schools and economies to open up without doing so safely.

And frankly, if we had all stayed home months ago without all the Karens being unleashed on society and wore face masks, our economies would already be opened up, and we would have had our regular lives back. But, no. Instead, we have an anti-masker, super-spreader president who needs to feed his narcissistic ego while Americans die.
