Leave it to Trump to cause even more grief amid the pandemic.

Donald Trump has been repeatedly smearing Joe Scarborough by suggesting that the MSNBC host is responsible for the 2001 death of one of his congressional staffers. Lori Klausutis’ death, a 28-year-old intern, was ruled as accidental. Still, Trump can’t handle criticism, so he has been taking time off from not dealing with the coronavirus pandemic to attack a media figure.

Imagine being the President of the United States amid a pandemic that’s killed nearly one hundred thousand Americans, and using your time to cause more grief to a family that lost their loved one years ago. Well, that’s who Donald Trump is as he continued his attacks on Scarborough again this morning.

The husband of Lori Klausutis has had it and pleaded with Twitter’s chief executive, Jack Dorsey, to delete Trump’s disgusting tweets, according to a letter obtained by the New York Times.

“Please delete those tweets,” Timothy Klausutis asked in a letter last week to Dorsey. “My wife deserves better.”

Mr. Klausutis also pointed to Donald Trump Jr., the president’s son, for amplifying his father’s appalling attack.

“President Trump on Tuesday tweeted to his nearly 80 million followers alluding to the repeatedly debunked falsehood that my wife was murdered by her boss, former U.S. Rep. Joe Scarborough,” the widower wrote. “The son of the president followed and more directly attacked my wife by tweeting to his followers as the means of spreading this vicious lie.”

“I’m asking you to intervene in this instance because the president of the United States has taken something that does not belong to him — the memory of my dead wife — and perverted it for perceived political gain,” he added.

You can read the full letter here:

This part of the letter stands out: “The president of the United States has taken something that does not belong to him.” That’s a key feature with this president, though, who also tried to delegitimize Barack Obama’s presidency with a baseless smear by claiming that our first black President was born in Kenya and not Hawaii. This is who Trump is.

And while knowing what a horrible person he is, his dedicated base will still vote him while he causes more chaos and grief.
