In A Twist Of Irony We Can’t Ignore, Judge Assigned To Steve Bannon’s Contempt Case Was Appointed By Donald Trump

Does it really get much better than this?

Late Friday afternoon, we were finally able to kick off our weekend with a sliver of justice in this nation that’s currently, seriously losing sight of what that truly means, when staunch Trump ally Steve Bannon was officially indicted on two counts of contempt of Congress, after he refused to comply with subpoenas from the House Select Committee that’s currently tasked with investigating the January 6th Capitol riot — one for his refusal to show up and testify before the committee, the other for refusing to provide the requested documents.

According to a report from POLITICO’s Playbook, “Each of the two counts Bannon was hit with Friday is punishable by up to a year imprisonment, with a minimum sentence of one month in jail.” It’s expected that the former Trump strategist and podcast host will surrender himself on Monday.

This move has also led many to believe that the House Select Committee was making an example out of Bannon for others who have been subpoenaed but refuse to comply — such as Trump’s former Chief of Staff Mark Meadows, who didn’t show up to testify this week, in direct defiance of the subpoena against him.

The whole ordeal is a refreshing twist of fate that those of us on this political side of the fence have been desperate for since the moment Donald and his cronies took office. However, if there’s any one part of this whole thing, in particular, this is especially delicious, it’s this little fact…

The judge that’s been assigned to oversee Bannon’s upcoming contempt case was appointed to his position by none other than Bannon’s Dear Leader himself, Donald Trump.

POLITICO reports that Judge Carl J. Nichols was assigned to preside over Steve Bannon’s contempt case, and Nichols was put in his current position by Trump himself. Given that the evidence against Bannon is undeniable and the case is all but open and shut, it’s highly likely that a Trump-appointed judge will ultimately serve to put the final nail in Bannon’s proverbial coffin.

And frankly, I like the sound of that myself.
